South Molton Success
It is now just over 12 months since Greenslade Taylor Hunt opened their South Molton office and managing partner Richard Webber looks back on the year and considers what the future may hold.
Opening any new office in the current economic and business climate is a gamble but Greenslade Taylor Hunt has been delighted with the success of the South Molton office. In our opinion South Molton is an extremely important rural hub serving a very large rural catchment area across North Devon and that is one of the major reasons we decided to open an office here in the first place. The firm has been operating in the West Country since 1843 and we do not take decisions to open new offices lightly.
The firm’s confidence in South Molton has been backed up by the area over which the new office has already been operating, dealing with properties from Exmoor to the North Devon coast, into West Devon and of course we work closely with the firm’s Tiverton office in Mid Devon. There are some wonderful individual shops and businesses now being attracted to South Molton and with talk of further commercial and residential development we only see the town going from strength to strength.
There is no denying that 2011 was a difficult year generally in the property market, one only had to open a newspaper or switch on the news to be constantly reminded of the state of not just the UK economy but the Europe wide economy. However, the property market currently seems to be experiencing a more positive period of activity, with people’s confidence in property appearing to be rejuvenated. Nevertheless, this is not a time for complacency, it is a time for sensible, honest, reliable, yet assured and innovative estate agency, and that is where Greenslade Taylor Hunt come in. Whether it is small pony paddocks, flats in the town or large farms and country properties, the firm is able to cater for all estate agency needs.
It is not just the estate agency side of the office that has been busy. Greenslade Taylor Hunt has also recently employed Katherine Little as a Lettings Negotiator in South Molton to cover the increasing demand for lettings from both landlords and tenants alike. It was always our intention to open a Lettings Department in South Molton, we just never anticipated that demand would grow so quickly.
The Greenslade Taylor Hunt network of 14 offices now extends from South Molton, Tiverton and Honiton in Devon, through Somerset to Dorchester in Dorset and the firm was delighted to recently announce the opening of another new office in the city of Wells.
