Scorching Trade at Sedgemoor Winter Warmer with 40 Cows Selling for 2,000gns plus

Jersey Heifers to 2200gns and Calved Holstein Heifers Average £2,258
Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt's first Collective Sale of 2012 attracted both a record entry and a record trade with a packed ringside of over 200 people seeing Holstein Heifers selling to 2500gns and Jersey Heifers to 2200gns.
JAW Bendall's "Pensdown Rose 71st" by "End-Road PVF Boliver" sold for 2500gns to West Wales. Their first ever calved consignment of six Cows and Heifers averaged £2,298. The highest consignment average of the day was achieved by AG Lambert & Partners with their six freshly calved heifers averaging £2,424 and selling to a top of 2400gns for the November Calved "Saddlers Sparky 620" by Baxter. Regular consigners Roland & Simon Bugler sold their ten "Bettiscombe" heifers to 2250gns averaging £2,294.
SE Lane & Partners travelled down from Kent with a consignment of Pedigree Jersey's from their "Hareplain" herd and were rewarded with a record price for a Jersey at Sedgemoor Auction Centre when their November calved heifer "Hareplain Vertify Lucy" sold for 2,200gns. Six calved cows and heifers averaged £1610.
MPP & ED Kane continued their Herd Dispersal with 20 Freshly Calved Cows and Heifers selling to 2100gns for a homebred "Weeton Jackson" 2nd calver.
Incalf Heifers met a very strong demand selling to 1900gns for R Fricker's "Moet Brinstar Sirius" daughter due in March to the Angus. Lordswood Farms Limited sold 24 Montbeliarde Heifers due this Spring to 1480gns on four occasions for daughters of Redon & Robin. Commercial Served Heifers from FG Knapman & Co sold to 1200gns and British Friesian Served Heifers sold to 1000gns for daughters of" Winnoch Officer".
The day included a herd dispersal for PJ, CA & TC Marks of Bath. Their commercial crossbred herd that calves all year round sold to 2050gns for two Swedish Red Crossed December Calved Heifers. Their Maiden Heifers sold to 980gns.
No less that 70 successful purchasers which included a large West Wales contingent witnessed the following excellent averages:-
