'J M Barrie Freedom Casket' to feature in August Antique Sale

The cover carries a presentation inscription and the sides are decorated with panels featuring buildings in Kirriemuir of relevance to J M Barrie including the Window at Thrums, the Cricket Pavilion and Camera Obscura, J M Barrie’s residence and Peter Pan.  Also contained in the casket is the original Burgess Ticket conferring Barrie’s Freedom of Kirriemuir.

 Provenance:  Purchased at the Author’s Sale of his contents held at Sotheby’s on 11th April 1938 for £56, following his death the previous year and has remained with the purchaser’s family ever since.

 This casket carries a pre-sale estimate of £2,000 - £3,000.
