Spring Fever at Sedgemoor Tops at £3360

April 2022

With spring in the air our Annual April Sale of 294 head was fuelled by a fever all the way through with an array of cattle from calves to quality fresh milk consignments, dispersals plus bullers and yearlings - there certainly was something for everyone!

Trade did not disappoint throughout with the quality cattle on offer rewarded with 35 over 2000gns, 5 over 2500gns and a top of 3200gns (£3360) for ‘Stowey Jordy Rainbow Red’ who was already classified VG86 as a heifer and nominated All Britain as an incalf heifer. Vendor Andy Limond purchased her as a calf from the Spotlight Sale 2020 and enjoyed taking her round the shows. The lucky new owners were Rob and Jane Targett at Carymoor.

Others heifers in the fresh milk section to 2400gns (£2520) for DC Dennis & Son’s ‘Dinnaton Callen Total Eclipse’, same vendor to 2350gns x 2.  Becca Reeds ‘Peridot Sidekick Whiskey’ sold to 2350gns and ‘Lilylane Supershot Effie’ to 2300gns.

Cows were a fierce trade to 2650gns (£2782.50) for Rea and Sons ‘Ledbury Lambda Karet’, 2400gns (£2520) was MKJ Reed’s ‘Beaconhill Piston Tulip’ and 2300gns for ‘Kingspool Stone Bunny’ PE King Ltd.

A special consignment from Sophie Morgan to disperse her ‘Scarletleaf Herd’ created a great deal of interest selling to 3000gns twice, firstly for the Pocket Rocket that was ‘Peak Denv Rocket Rhapsody’, a granddaughter of the well-known ‘Tank Ex97’ who was freshly calved and pumping 35kgs already.  Secondly was ‘Treetop Casper Peach’ who Sophie had shown at the All Britain Calf show last year and was now confirmed in calf to Sexed ‘Lambda’ and now travels across to Wales.  A red ‘Lila Z’ incalf heifer to 2000gns, young calves selling to 650gns for a Roxy and a yearling Roxy to 1800gns.

Incalf heifers topped at 1700gns four times for ‘Wentlooge Bestman Elen’ and three heifers from Gordon and Fay Robertson.  Bulling heifers to 960gns x 2 & 940gns x 2 for commercial heifers from G Bown and Son Ltd and 920gns x 3 for Kingspool bred heifers. Maiden Montebeliarde x heifers from R & J Cottey to 900gns and younger heifers from Bown to 780gns.
