The June Collective Dairy Sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre saw a continuation in demand for calved heifers in maximum profit with Paul and David Andrews’s freshly calved 2 year old heifer “Beneknowle Macarena Vaakje 158th” topping the market at 2150gns. Other calved heifers sold to 1950gns for SR Pottow & Son “Eastknook Rapper Primrose” and 1900gns for GC Langdon & Son’s “Salterton Grafeeti Glenda 44th” also DC Dennis & Son Ltd “Dinnaton Zelgadis Estate Odette”.

Dinnaton dominated the top prices for the fresh calved cows which sold to 1900gns for their 2nd calver “Brad Julian Total Eclipse (GP84)” with members of the “Foxmask” and “Flute” families at 1700gns.

Incalf heifers continued to be a good trade with heifers due in September from J & J Bown selling to 1460gns for “Steventon Cosmeth Katrinea” and commercial organic heifers due July from Coombe Farming at 1400gns x 2.

Of the 3 bulls sold it was LED Rockett’s British Friesian “Greenway Victor (BFV85)” which topped the market at 2020gns.

Off lying cows met a much more difficult trade with autumn/winter calving British Friesian cows from BHG Farm Partnership selling to 950gns. The youngstock trade proved to be very selective with bulling heifers at 830gns x 2 for J & J Bown “Steventon” herd and July 2018 born “Wintersell Milo” daughter from the same herd at 700gns.

Y Farm Partnership’s continued youngstock dispersal produced young heifer calves on milk to 320gns x 9 for daughters of “Wiltor Dreamer” and “Glamour Achieve” ET.
