Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt started a month run of dispersal sales with H J Masters & Son’s commercial herd at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 25th June.  200 milking cows and incalf heifers went under the hammer to top at 2200gns for the June calved heifer by Wiltor Cruise and out of an 11,000kgs Cogent Twist dam.  A Snowbiz Symion daughter who had also calved at the beginning of June achieved 2100gns with a May calved Wiltor Cruise daughter giving 42.2 kgs at 2050gns.

Cows topped at 2100gns for another Wiltor Cruise that had calved in February and was due to her second in January, with March 3rd lactation calved cows by Ballycairn Tiergan selling for 2000gns.

Incalf heifers due August to either the Aberdeen Angus or Sexed Holstein semen sold to 1460gns x2 for daughters of Ladys-Manor RD Grafeeti ET.

The all year around calving herd produced a strong demand for fresh milk and heavy milking cows, the off lying and second quality cows met a more selective trade but the day produced no less than 8 individual lots of over £2,000, with a good crowd in attendance and local buyers joined by those from Cornwall, Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire.
