Entries from Barnstaple to Carmarthen and across to Kent made up the Annual Michaelmas Collective at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Thursday 9th September.  As fresh calved numbers remain tight the demand for them continues to hold with Robert Horton’s calved cows and heifers selling for 2000gns to top the sale with the 2nd lactation VG86 cow “Awesome-Rd Laurie Lea” and two year old calved heifers from the Sara and Charmain families.  Other calved heifers to 1980gns for Longmoor Farm Ltd’s “Longmoor Lancaster Cathy”.

An excellent entry of over 100 incalf heifers sold to 1600gns for “Oakworthy Nahalds Attempt Ruffles” due October to the Angus from T & K Knapman, Hampshire with others from the same vendor at 1580gns.  PT & JC Hinds, Gloucestershire sold commercial heifers due the same time for 1500gns, J & J Bown’s “Steventon Galactico Teacup 3rd “ due October 1480gns, J & M Craig, Sussex commercial 2 year old heifers due Oct 1420gns and heifers due under 2 years of age to sexed semen in December to 1380gns for JF Cobb & Sons.  Served heifers due next spring from J & J Waldron Barnstaple averaged an impressive £1004.  Bulling heifers from the same vendor sold to 900gns x 3 for daughters of Glamour Achieve and Endco Evolve.

March 2020 born heifers from T Anthony & Sons Haregrove Herd from Bridgend sold to 880gns x 6 for daughters of Peak LC Altacordial and Bomaz Altamonson ET.  Commercial heifer calves from D Thorner sold to 300gns x 2.
