Messrs K Milverton & Son Dispersal Sale to 2320gns @ SAC

November 2022

Unable to comply with the new environmental regulations and with other opportunities arising for the development of farm buildings, the Milverton family made the difficult decision to disperse their commercial Holstein Friesian dairy cows and incalf heifers.  Utilising the bespoke facilities at Sedgemoor Auction Centre the sale took place on Thursday 24th November.

The recent fierce trade for fresh milk continued with the first cow in the ring selling for over 2000gns.  An October calved second lactation cow topped the day at 2320gns followed by 2 x September 2nd calvers at 2250gns and 2150gns.  Likewise younger, lower yielding heifers and cows calving into next year continued to be harder to place on the day reflecting the recent uncertainty surrounding milk price.

Incalf heifers calving at under 2 years of age sold to 1150gns for those calving January to March next year to the Aberdeen Angus.

Purchasers from across the south west to Carmarthen and Derbyshire both in the ring and with a very strong attendance on Marteye produced the following averages on the day:-

  Dairy Cows £1389.00
  Calved Heifers £1396.00
  Incalf Heifers £1014.00

An average across the board of £1,327 wash achieved for all 173 entered to include all faults.
