Successful Sales all Around

March 2022

The merging of our monthly catalogued Collective Dairy Sale with our weekly Saturday entry of dairy cattle drew interest from all over the south of England and across to West Wales.

The Sale started in front of a packed ringside.  The entry from the collective sale’s fresh milk was dominated by the excellent consignment of 18 from the Ivybridge based Dennis' families Dinnaton Herd which averaged an impressive £2199.
They topped at 2400gns twice for Dinnaton Shottle Mogul Cordelia from 14 gens VG & Ex and for Dinnaton Atwood Drafter Fawn from 4 gens VG & Ex, both tracing back to Canadian breeding.

Top of the day was 2600gns (£2730) twice both for LLanelen breeding from the Jones family of Abergavenny. The day produced no less than 28 over £2000 to include entries from Walkabout and Wiltor. Incalf heifers sold to 1700gns for StBridesvalley bred heifers with organic incalf heifers to 1600gns for Angell Farming Ltd.

Generating lots of interest from near and far with some bidders being unsuccessful were the 14 Steanbow Pedigree Jersey heifer calves which sold for an impressive average of £372 to top at £440.

Two British Friesian bulls from the renowned Goonhilly herd sold to 1700gns.

Plenty of interest from locals and further afield, as well as buoyant bidding on Marteye created the following incredible averages:

Pedigree Calved Cows £1963.50
Pedigree Calved Heifers £2192.75
Incalf Heifers £1403.50
Pedigree Friesian Bulls £1680.00
