Quality Fresh Milk Shines at Sedgemoor

A fantastic display of fresh milk and two super dispersals created a buzz throughout the market with no less than 40 of the days entries sold for in excess of £2000 with 15 at 2300gns or higher!

The sale topped at 2500gns (£2625) for Derek & Jeremy Dennis’, from Ivybridge, Dinnaton Pepper Sheila travelling to Wales, bred by the popular bull Delaberge Pepper and bred from 3 generations of VG she was one of the super consignment of 15 from the continued dispersal sale which averaged an extremely impressive £2345. Others from Dinnaton to 2450gns and 2400gns twice.

Other heifers in the fresh milk section to 2350gns twice for IM Davies’ Davlea Control Lulu &  FH Chave & Son’s’ Peacehay Undenied Rochelle. PE King Ltd to 2300gns for Kingspool Lambda Tatiana

Cows were also jointly topped by the Dennis family at 2400gns for Dinnaton Baloo Mayday Marilyn, and for Kingspool Boby P Ella from Mike & Chris King. David Chave’s Stowey Flagsip Sorrell to 2250gns.

Rob and Natalie Wedden, Crediton dispersed their super Braden Herd which featured a number of popular families and young animals that had strength and cracking udders to top at 2450gns for the autumn calved heifer Braden Actor Monogram VG85 she joins a Devon breeder along with a number of others on the same lorry. At 2350gn was Braden Lambda Starr VG86 who again calved last autumn and was recently served.

The Dascombe family consigned their Holstein Friesian herd dispersal and were well rewarded with a top of 1900gns for the March Calved Young cow that was giving 36kgs, their consignment included the closer to calving in calf heifers which saw a lot of demand to 1600gns.

Incalf heifers topped at 1800gns & 1720gns for Gordon & Fay Roberston. 1580gns was top for the served heifers from MD & D Clothier who were dispersing their youngstock following GTH selling their herd privately. Crossbred incalf heifers to 1400gns from the Davis Family of Glastonbury.

Bulling heifers to 900gns x 5 from the Reed’s Allerways herd and 820gns MD & D Clothier with yearlings and younger heifers meeting a more selective trade topping at 680gns for the same vendor.

Holstein calves from the Beneknowle herd topped at 400gnsx2 and 320gns for Steanbow Ltd who also sold fresh Jersey calves to 290gns.

A day with buyers spanning the breadth of the entire of the South West of England and Wales up to Staffordshire created the following excellent averages:
