Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a consistent fresh milk trade but not the highs of previous months following the recent threats of falling milk prices at their annual Michaelmas Sale.  Calved heifers sold to 1800gns x 3 for August calved heifers for PE King (Bristol) Ltd’s Kingspool Masterful Lucy 3rd, PJ Andrews’s Beneknowle Penguin Connie 60th and HJ Baldwin & Son’s commercial heifer by Pine-Tree Pampa ET.  With 2nd lactation cows at 1750gns for GM & NF Lamberts Courtside Dolmio Nightingale 57th and 1720gns for DC Dennis & Son Ltd’s Dinnaton Gillespy Bryant Joyce VG85 also 1700gns.

The incalf heifer and youngstock trade remained buoyant with GL & FL Robertson’s Dayhouse heifers due in October to the Hereford selling to 1600gns for Hurst Myra and 1580gns for Fantasmic Cherrie.  Kingspool heifers due October to sexed semen sold to 1550gns for Willsbro Abbott ET daughters from their Mandy family.  June 2018 born heifers from Kingspool were in strong demand selling to 880gns twice for Kingspool Fry Pearl and Kingspool Stone Carefree.  February born heifer calves from Y Farms Partnership as they continued their youngstock dispersal sold to 640gns for Yfarm Dreamer Unwin, Yfarm Achieve Knot and Yfarm Brody Jenny.    

A late entry of 24 commercial extensively farmed Friesian Cows from P Brock of Clevedon sold to 1460gns for a 3rd lactation daughter of Collycroft Solo that had calved in August.
