A consignment of 30 cows that had calved mostly in July 2019 from Weston Farms Ltd of Swanage generated a good trade selling to 1680gns and averaging £1307. Heifers averaged slightly less on the day selling to 1800gns for LG Bagg & Partners and Dinnaton with others at 1750gns x 2 PE King (Bristol) Ltd, 1700gns C Huins, 1680gns AJ Limond and 1640gns JP & DA Derham.
Smart young crossbred cows dry and due November and December were the strongest trade of the day with the consignment from Rotherfield Farms LLP selling to average £1189.50. Second quality out of calving pattern cows calving December to February were difficult to place.
The youngstock trade were at lower levels despite the quality on offer probably reflecting the time of year. Incalf heifers sold to 1180gns for PE King (Bristol) Ltd, 14 month old maiden heifers to 680gns x 2 for W & P Ives Gladwake Herd with 10 month old heifers from the same herd at 650gns. They also sold heifer calves to 350gns x 2 for daughters of Pine-Tree Verona ET with commercial heifer calves from Weston Farms at 320gns.
