Red Hot Summer Trade for Autumn Calving Crossbreds

June 2022

Rolf Park Farm Ltd’s decision to send their Autumn calving crossbred cows to Sedgemoor Auction Centre was rewarded with an exceptional trade across the board. No fresh milk made no difference to the trade with a packed ringside making the most of the opportunity to secure cows and heifers calving from August to November.

The sale topped at 2150gns for the 2nd calver due again in August by Goonhilly Rerran. Montbeliarde x heifers due again in August to their second were in strong demand selling to 2100gns, 2050gns, 2000gns x 2 with those due September to 2080gns.  6th Lactation cows to 1400gns and three quartered cows to 1220gns.

Incalf heifers calving at just 2 years having been out wintered since 6 months of age sold to 1550gns for September calvers by Kirkby Jupiter. With August calvers to 1500gns x 2 for daughters of Peartree Broxton.

Buyers from Crewe in Cheshire to the Lizard in Cornwall and Winchester to Pembrokeshire made the most of this rare opportunity to generate the following excellent averages:-

196 Dairy Cows & Heifers (inc. all faults) £1558
80 Incalf Heifers £1391
276 Head £1510
