It was the continued Dinnaton Dispersal for Derek, Jennifer and Jeremy Dennis that topped the day with the much admired Aftershock Mogul Cordelia with 10 generations of Ex or VG behind her selling for £3045 to a Welsh bidder. In fact Dinnaton filled the four top prices for the collective heifers with others at £2572.50 and £2467.50 x 2. Other calved heifers to £2467.50 Rea & Son – Clenchers Superjet Bounty and £2310 for Randolf & Brian Miller – Moorshard Pharo Caramel. Other Vendors with heifers at 2000gns plus, RM, CE & IR Harris – Winkleigh and WTR Ash & Son – Pinksmoor.
Collective Cows topped at £2572.50 for Roland & Simon Bugler – Bettiscombe 2nd Calver with WTR Ash & Son – Pinksmoor 3rd Calver at £2520. Heifer calves were brighter than expected on the day with 3 week old calf by Progenesis Wimbledon selling to 380gns for CJ & JA Reed. The remainder of the youngstock was an easier trade as expected at this time of year with Organic yearlings from AH Warren Trust to £609 x 3 and pedigree March 2022 born calf from Greenway to 820gns.
The sale included the Dispersal for J & N Biddle of Berkely, Glos in conjunction with Gwilym Richards. This super herd of strong, high yielding cows were the trade of the day, with calved heifers selling to £2940 and £2835, 3rd lactation cows £2835 and 4th lactation £2625. Their incalf heifers due December/January sold to £2047.50, £1942.50, £1890 x 2 and £1869.
A good company of buyers both in the ring and online made for a successful day with no less than 60 lots selling for over £2000 and the following averages achieved:-
