The sale started with surplus dairy equipment and machinery which created tremendous interest and sold well with the Westfalia Surge 24:48 Herringbone Parlour selling for £16,000, the 16 Tonne Bailey Trailer £15,000, John Deere 3050 Tractor £9,000, Boreco Sawdust Dispenser £5,000 and the Holm & Laue Milk Taxi 3.0 Milk Pasteuriser for £4,700.
The dairy herd followed with a consistent trade throughout for the 250 milkers and 200 followers. Freshly calved second lactation cows by “Bomaz Ingenious” and “ABS Theory” sold to 1700gns. Calved heifers which calved under two years of age sold to 1550gns x 2 for “Luncrest Millard” daughters.
19 month old incalf heifers by “Catlane Chad” and due May to the Limousin sold to 1200gns, with bulling heifers to 900gns and 820gns x 2. The 13 month old yearling heifers sold to 780gns x 4 and for daughters of “Catlane Chad” and heifer calves sold after their dams to 270gns.
A good crowd throughout the day produced 63 purchasers to include a strong Welsh contingent and buyers from Cornwall and Dorset to give the following averages:
