On 26th August, Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s on farm sales team were delighted to conduct the dispersal of the Matron Portion of the Warson herd of pedigree Aberdeen Angus at Warson Farm, Lydford, Okehampton.

Warson, a farm where cattle are reared under strict commercial management, when no concentrates are fed to calves or cows and cows are grazed on a 21 day paddock rotation and Autumn calvers out wintered. The cows were good working types, having all originally calved at or under two years of age.

Cows with heifer calves sold to £2310 for Rosslayne Jury Erica S361, with an April born Warson Eric T135 calf at foot. She was bought by Messrs GE & S Whiting of Liskeard to join the Fursdon herd.
 
Cows with bull calves rose to £2100 for Standlynch Fine Girl P797, with March born Rawburn Jagger Eric R094 sired calf and back in calf to Youngdale Nozeka. She went to Messrs Chapman of Holsworthy to join their Atlantic herd.

Cows with steer calves peaked at £2058 for Elliot Tyra R127, by Rawburn Dublin out of a CCL Dataline 36R dam. She was PD’d incalf to Quaker Hill Dead Center and also went to Messrs GE & S Whiting.

In calf cows, due this autumn met a high of £2100 for Rawburn Boss Lady R201 linebred by Big Timer N627 and out of Boss Lady N726 and due to Warson Eric T135 in September, she was purchased by Paul Westaway of Melview Farming, Dymock, Gloucestershire.

Further cows were sold to as far afield as the Townsend herd, Marchwood, Southampton and the Coneys and Pure Gold herds of Narbeth, Pembrokeshire.
