Jewellery aficionados are in for a treat at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s April antiques sale on Thursday, April 15, when a feast of fabulous gems goes under the hammer.

The sale at the Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, will be the first since the pandemic started to welcome in person bidding. Naturally facemasks must be worn and stringent social distancing and COVID security measures will be followed.

It promises to be a real dazzler with a comprehensive range of jewellery and silverware to suit all tastes and price points.

Among the highlights are four beautiful diamond rings from various eras, which are sure to prove popular at auction.

A five carat Victorian five stone diamond ring is a rather special offering and has a pre-sale guide of  £6,000-£7,000.

A smart one carat diamond ring is guided at £2,000-£3,000, while a five stone diamond ring, with a more modern design, has an estimate of £1,500-£2,000.

An old cut ¾ carat diamond ring has a pre-sale guide of £600-£800.

In addition to the jewellery there is a significant selection of antique silverware including an unusual set of four Georgian candlesticks guided at £400-£600.

Buying at auction is a savvy way of securing fine jewellery at well under its retail cost, while selling through a respected auctioneer is a trusted way of securing a fair market price for your unwanted items.
