Silver Lining in Uncertain Times

August 2022

An antiques auction house might not be your first thought when considering the current tricky economic climate, but perhaps it should be!

Demand for gold and silver is currently buoyant as investors look to good old fashioned “safe havens” in these uncertain economic times.

Silver is cheaper than gold, but can still offer a pleasing return. Why not consider maximising your assets to see if your unwanted silver and gold could delight another owner and provide you with some useful cash.

A mixed lot of Chinese white metal and metal – not in the best condition - needing a clean, and subject to wear and tear, and scratched in part, performed well in Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s August antiques sale. It made £1,700 at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton,

A Chinese metal export dragon punch bowl, consigned from a local deceased estate went for £800 from an initial guide price of £300-£600.

A number of furniture items from this rather special source will be featured in the next sale, which takes place on Thursday, September 15.

For more information about this sale or to consign items please contact the salerooms on 01823 332525.
