There was a distinctly musical feel to the final collectors’ sale of the year at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s Taunton saleroom.

A German cello was the star performer at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, and was bought for £3,000. It was closely followed by a violin bow, which made £1,600.

Good prices were also achieved for coins. An assortment of small gold coins was bought for £1,050 for £850, while silver and other coinage went for £1,000.

A collection of lace and other textiles sold for £925. Dolls furniture also achieved notable prices – a selection of hand painted half scale items made £740, while another collection fetched £550.

The next quarterly collectors’ sale put together by collectables enthusiast and valuer Dr Peter Rixon takes place on Friday, March 5.

There will be a particular focus on transport memorabilia at the March sale. For more information and to consign items please call the saleroom on 01823 332525.
