Walkers taking part in the Exmoor Ramble have raised more than £10,000 for the North Devon Hospice – and sponsorship is still flooding in.

More than 270 people, including a team from Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s South Molton office, turned out to support Sunday’s event in memory of Ivan Huxtable, a long-time charity fundraiser.

Money raised will help patients on the hospice’s bedded unit, where Ivan, 80, the driving force behind the rambles, was cared for before he passed away earlier this year from cancer.

A renowned local Exmoor enthusiast and wildlife walker Ivan was a tireless fundraiser who organised charity walks for over 30 years.

Commenting on Sunday’s event Head of Fundraising at the hospice, Ali Hunt said: “Fantastic feedback from 100% of the participants and the organisers were all delighted with the way that the day went.”

Ivan was a well-known local character and a client and good friend of Richard Webber, Partner in charge of the South Molton office, of Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

In recognition of this the firm donated £1,000 from its charitable fund towards the essential work of the hospice.

Richard and colleagues Chloe Campbell, Ben Goodyear and Vashti Cotten took part in the walk along with Tony Overhill, Partner at the Tiverton office, family, friends and four-legged companions.
