Organisers of the South West Winter Fairs, held at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, have been delighted to finally be able to distribute cash to charities following the easing of pandemic restrictions.

Handing over donations from the 2019 fair were put on hold as a result of the first lockdown and then Covid restrictions forced the 2020 event to take place behind closed doors.

Finally £3,750 from the two events was presented to worthy causes at a ceremony at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, Junction 24, North Petherton.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance received £1,500 from last year’s show.

The winter fair committee selected causes close to their hearts to benefit from the 2019 event. The Laura Persey Trust, a small charity, which helps young people in Devon and Somerset, to improve their rural and agriculture skills, received £750.

The Motor Neurone Disease and Hearing Dogs For The Deaf were also presented with £750 each.

Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt would like to thank everyone who supported the shows and enabled these generous donations.

Plans are well in hand for this year’s event on Monday, December 6, which is set to go ahead with the usual crowds and trade stands. For more information and schedules please contact Adam Hayes or Louise Baker at Sedgemoor Market office on 01278 410278 or click HERE.
