Cayla is a local four-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma – a very rare form of cancer, affecting just 100 children each year in the UK (more commonly affecting children under the age of five).
Cayla’s family needs to raise £200,000 to send Cayla to the USA for pioneering treatment, not currently available in the UK.
Their target has been boosted by nearly £2,000 by staff at GTH’s Tiverton office who took it in turns to keep pedalling over a period of 24 hours.
Over the course of Tuesday, multiple family members and friends of the Tiverton team came into the office to donate their time in helping to keep the pedals moving!
Two local contractors kindly donated an hour each of their time – special thanks go to Mark Gratton and Dave Fagg of H2O Plumbing and Heating.
A massive thank you must go to Tiverton Tesco and one of the lovely managers who kindly allowed a few members of the team to stand in the foyer for a few hours – raising well over £400!
Organiser and lettings administrator Shona Medcroft said: “The whole event was a monumental team effort and would not have happened without all the support we received and all the local businesses rallying behind us.
“Many businesses donated prizes for our raffle. Special thanks to ‘Love your Logo’ for the team’s t-shirts, PETROC Tiverton for the spinning bike itself, Grindstone Barbers, G W Packs, Edinburgh Woollen Mill, oh-so-chic, Boots Opticians and Banburys Tiverton, for all donating prizes to our raffle. A major shout-out must go to Mad Hatters café for supplying the team with breakfast on Wednesday morning!”
