Cycle to the City for Cancer Charities

Eight members of the agricultural team at Sedgemoor Auction Centre are swapping the auction ring for the saddle as they embark on a mammoth charity cycle ride.

They will be cycling the 150 miles from Sedgemoor to the London headquarters of two charities, Leukaemia UK and Young Lives Vs Cancer to deliver a £5,000 donation raised from this two-day event.

The challenge has been inspired by three-year-old Henry Mellor, son of Tom Mellor, one of the Partners at Sedgemoor.

Henry was diagnosed with leukaemia in November 2021 and has been undergoing treatment ever since.

Tom and his family stayed in accommodation provided by Young Lives Vs Cancer while Henry was treated at Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Andy Clements, Associate, said: “This has brought the effects of cancer closer to home for the agricultural team at Sedgemoor and we wanted to raise as much money as possible to support two very worthy charities.”

The team comprises James Wotton, Jamie Batt, Rob Baker, Harriet Pike, Emily Roberts, Charlotte Scott, Ryan Doble and Andy Clements. Tom Mellor will be following as the support crew.

The gruelling 150 mile cycle ride will take place over June 28 and 29. Please visit the team’s JustGiving page to support this vital cause at www.justgiving.com/team/sedgemoortothecity
