Experienced property professional Richard Sanders retires today (Thursday, August 31) after clocking up 29 years with Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

When he joined the firm there were just four offices and around 60  staff, now the company has 16 branches across Somerset, Devon and Dorset  along with a presence in London and more than 200 employees.

The expansion continues as the partnership has also merged with well regarded West Somerset estate agency Chanin & Thomas in recent weeks.

Throughout his time with GTH, he has headed up the professional services team providing surveys and valuations from one of the firm’s Taunton offices.

Charles Clark, Chairman of GTH, praised his integrity, courtesy and loyalty, along with his exceptional reputation as a valuer.

He said: “We are very proud of the fact that many of our staff have worked for us for considerable numbers of years and Richard epitomises all that we strive to achieve at GTH.”

Indeed Richard has worked alongside his PA Lisa Brimble since he joined the firm back in 1988. In those days they relied on a typewriter and there was great excitement when some “new technology” – a word processor was brought into the office!

Richard has enjoyed the variety of commercial and residential work encompassed by the department and also mentoring a number of students and graduates as they have begun their careers in professional services.

“I enjoy dealing with people and the variety of the work which is both office based and outside the office,” he said.
