Partner, Justin Lowe MRICS, said: “We are delighted to have Richard on board. He brings with him a  wealth of experience of dealing with residential property throughout Somerset and Dorset with the benefit of local knowledge of the town which will undoubtedly help Greenslade Taylor Hunt to expand the area and property base of their Sherborne office.”

Richard grew up in Sherborne, being schooled at the Abbey Primary, where his late mother was a much-respected teacher, and went onto The  Gryphon School, Sherborne. He is very much involved in the local community.

A keen sportsman he plays an active part with Team Gryphon, the football club based at The Gryphon Leisure Centre. He is on the committee and is also a FA qualified coach. He also has connections to Sherborne Cricket Club.

His links to Sherborne are deep-rooted. He married his wife Helen at Sherborne Abbey in 2013. Their son George, who turns one this month, was christened there and as a child Richard was a chorister at the abbey.

He is delighted to be heading up the team at his hometown branch of Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

He said: “I can’t wait to get started. As a local lad I have a good understanding of the local market.”

He is keen to make the firm the first choice among people planning to sell their homes.
Indeed a chance meeting when he was out with his son George has already led to a promising instruction from a lady putting her property on the market with Greenslade Taylor Hunt on Richard’s first day with the firm.

Richard believes there is still a keen demand for “bricks and mortar” agents rather than internet only operators.

“There will always be a market for Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s high, quality service. The prestige and service Greenslade Taylor Hunt can offer is second to none, ” he added.

From an early age Richard, 30, knew he wanted to work in property or land management. He gained a 2:1 in property agency and marketing at the  Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. On graduation he worked in Bath gaining agency and land management experience over a three-year period in a city centre practice. For the past four years he has been  working for Stags in Yeovil.

While he was studying at the Royal Agricultural College he spent his summer break as a house tutor at The International School, Sherborne.
