Martyn Venner, residential manager at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s Bridgwater office has just been appointed a Partner with the leading property firm.

Announcing the news Tony Overhill, Chairman of Greenslade Taylor Hunt, said: “Martyn has successfully run the Bridgwater office for a number of years, as well as auctioneering at Sedgemoor every Saturday. His youth, professionalism and enthusiastic approach is welcomed and will further strengthen our Somerset presence.”

Martyn originally wanted to pursue a career in farming, but was persuaded by his late father Colin Venner, to study Rural Land Management at The Royal Agricultural University.

Martyn gained a degree in 2003 and then worked on estates, returning to Taunton at the end of 2003. Initially he worked for a local farmer plucking and dressing turkeys for Christmas to pay off his student loan.

A shortage in the milk quota department at Greenslade Taylor Hunt resulted in the offer of temporary employment for a few months. This became a permanent move and has led to a flourishing career with the  property partnership.

He has worked in all aspects of the property industry including professional work and rural agency. He qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2007 and also carried out auctioneering duties at Taunton Market and subsequently Sedgemoor Auction Centre.

He enjoys the variety of his workload. He became residential manager at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s Bridgwater residential office in 2012 and is looking forward to the challenges the market will face post-Brexit.

He is delighted to be following his father, Colin into the role of Partner. Mr Venner senior worked for GTH and its forerunners for 42 years and was well respected in the local community and renowned for selling sheep.
