Stephen, who runs the firm’s Honiton residential department, is keen to see the accolade as a team effort.
“We have had an amazing year! It’s not just done by one person. It is a team effort and it is so nice to work somewhere where everyone works so hard for the firm and our wonderful clients,” he said.
Stephen, 44, began his estate agency career in 1994 in the Midlands and worked his way up to become regional director of a large chain for 10 years where he managed 100 staff and covered an area from Taunton to Bath.
However he missed the “hands on” nature of the job he had first fallen in love with as a 21-year-old and was delighted to take on the role of residential manager at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s Honiton office 18 months ago.
“I am a career estate agent. I am a people person. I love dealing with people and their homes,” he said.
Stephen is enjoying the variety of properties that are handled by the Honiton office. In his previous roles he had not been involved with farm sales or land.
He is looking forward to another good year for the Honiton branch and expects the impact of Brexit not to be felt until Article 50 is triggered.
He said after the financial crash in 2008 people put their lives on hold. He does not expect the same to happen with Brexit.
People are still relocating from London, but perhaps have less to spend as the London property market contracts.
Whatever the challenges ahead Stephen is ready for them and he feels his team all play to their strengths.
“It’s like when Alex Ferguson was manager at Man Utd – We have a brilliant team of experienced individuals and everyone is in the right position,” he said.
