Respected property professional David Lethaby MRICS is starting a new chapter in his busy life and is about to call time on his successful estate agency career and embrace retirement.

Born and bred locally, David has worked in estate agency since 1980 and has accumulated considerable experience in sales and lettings of residential and commercial property throughout West Somerset.

For many years he worked for respected estate agents Chanin & Thomas until they were taken over by Greenslade Taylor Hunt in September 2017.

Martyn Venner, Partner at Greenslade Taylor Hunt, notes: “David has been a highly valued and loyal member of staff who knows West Somerset like the back of his hand. There are very few occasions when he can walk down The Avenue in Minehead without a wave or a smile from members of the local community. His professionalism and enthusiasm have never waned during his career and he has shown exceptional loyalty to Chanin & Thomas and latterly to Greenslade Taylor Hunt. We shall certainly miss David and his sunny character and wish him a very happy and well-earned retirement.”

David has been a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) since 2000. In his spare time David takes an interest in most sports, has been actively involved with Minehead Cricket Club for many years, is a keen golfer and enjoys coastal and countryside walking.

He is a committed member of the Minehead community and each Thursday he performs a key task in the town when he climbs to the top of Minehead’s clock tower and winds the clock to the correct time. He also carries out this duty when the clocks go forward, and back!

He will continue this routine when he retires from GTH at the end of May.

He is married to Jayne and they have two grown up children, Emma, who teaches at Foxes Academy, the hospitality and catering college in the town and Richard, who is working abroad.
