David has over 25 years of experience, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Registered Valuers, a Fellow of Gemmological Association, and a qualified diamond grader.
With the value of gold on the rise, David notes what a fantastic time it is to sell. He said; “The price of gold reached an all-time high last week, and diamond prices also continue to rise. Good quality solitaire diamond jewellery, of 0.50 carat and above, seem to be particularly well.”
Having worked as a consultant at a number of different auction houses over the years, David noted that he was surprised at how well jewellery continues to sell at Greenslade Taylor Hunt:
“It’s become clear that more and more people are bringing jewellery into us for sale, rather than leaving it to chance as inheritance. We live in a changing world and a sad fact is that, most often, it’s true worth can easily go unrealised if younger generations don’t speak to the right people.”
“People who have previously been reluctant to bring in their items, thinking their jewellery was worthless, have been so glad they did sell. The vast majority are genuinely surprised at just how much their jewellery items are fetching.”
David finishes with:
“People are often surprised at just how much jewellery lies hidden away in drawers, jewel boxes etc, items that they haven’t seen for years. So why not have a look and bring in your hidden treasures? You never know they could be worth a lot of money!”
