The greenfield site in South Molton has been bought by Kier Community Living for an undisclosed sum.
The land West of Parklands, South Molton, abuts the built-up area of the town and is close to the South Molton United Church of England Primary School, which is rated “good” by Ofsted.
The land extends to around 12.48 acres (5.05 hectares) and comprises three agricultural fields divided by hedgerow and planting.
North Devon Council granted outline permission in July 2018 for up to 144 homes on site, of which 30 (20.8%) will be affordable.
The proposed access to the scheme will be from the B3226, which connects South Molton with the A377. A new roundabout will be constructed and a new strategic road will be built linking to the residential development to the North.
Kier Community Living, the developer, will be submitting a reserved matters application and will have to comply with a number of planning obligations – Section 106 Agreements – including contributions to highways, education and open space provision.
