Charles Clark, Partner at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s Chard office, has said that the final auction of 2018 was highly successful.
The auction included the final portion of Oxenford Farm, Dowlish Wake, a parcel of 52 acres of good quality arable land which realised £630,000 (approx. £12,000 per acre) following very spirited bidding from a number of local investors and farmers with a hammer finally coming down in favour of a local dairy farming family. A parcel of 14.14 acres of pasture land at Donyatt achieved £102,000 (approx. £7,200 per acre) selling to a farming business.
On the Somerset/Dorset border at Misterton, a very attractive area of amenity land, copse, woodland and pasture extending to 16.98 acres excited plenty of interest before selling for £128,000 to purchasers who have moved down from Kent and are looking for a lifestyle change. A detached period cottage at Henley near Langport set in 3 acres and requiring extensive renovation sold immediately after auction for £410,000 and a 6.24 acre field on Sutton Moor on the levels near Langport achieved £33,000 with interest from as far afield as Yorkshire indicating good demand for land with potential environmental benefits.
We will have a full program of auctions in 2019 and we are already taking entries for spring auctions across the South West.
