As the lockdown comes into effect on 5th November, we wanted to inform our clients of what it means for the housing market and our plans to support you during this time.

Latest indications from the government (released 3 November and awaiting Parliament agreement on 4 November) confirm that the property market will continue during the lockdown. This includes estate agent activities and removal services.

The following notes were released in relation to when people can legitimately leave their homes in connection with the purchase, sale, letting or rental of a residential property:

(i) visiting estate or letting agents, developer sales offices or show homes (at GTH, this will be strictly by appointment only);
(ii) viewing residential properties to look for a property to buy or to rent;
(iii) preparing a residential property to move in;
(iv) moving house;
(v) visiting a residential property to undertake any activities required for the rental or sale of that property.

We will continue to facilitate property viewings under the current rigorous safety guidance and will remind all parties of their obligations in this regard. This includes adhering to social distancing rules, wearing PPE including masks and gloves, having sellers leave the property during a viewing (which can only last for 15 minutes), and to have as few people looking at the property as possible.

All viewing appointments will be confirmed by email with our full Covid-19 procedures and policies clearly stated.

Our staff wear appropriate PPE to all appointments and we have carefully structured our teams into ‘bubbles’ to keep our offices safely open. In-office appointments will only be made if absolutely necessary and we are not open to the general public.

We are pleased to be able to continue to operate and it remains our priority to ensure the safety of our staff and clients at this time.
