Smart Move to Cut Living Costs

Could a move to a new home be the key to tackle spiraling living costs this autumn?

Greenslade Taylor Hunt are proud to be working with reputable developer, Allison Homes, across numerous new build developments in the Devon and Somerset areas, and with rising living costs, buying one of their fantastic energy efficient new homes, could be a smart move.

Older properties are not as energy efficient as new builds, which must comply with the latest regulations – a massive benefit when thinking about running costs.

Features like better glazing and insulation help cut heating and running costs in new build properties.

Data from Energy Performance Certificates shows over 80% of new homes have the highest A or B ratings. That compares to just 2.2% of existing properties. Better EPC ratings open up the option of green mortgages, which can offer cheaper rates.

New builds offer peace of mind. Your home will be built in accordance with the relevant planning permission, building regulations and industry standards. In addition, your property will be inspected during the construction phases.

Importantly new homes are covered by a 10-year warranty provided by NHBC, LABC or equivalent providing homeowners with confidence about the standard of work undertaken.

In the unlikely case that there was an issue with the build, you’re covered for a length of time and won’t have to pay out to fix the matter as you would have to do with an older home.

For first time buyers a new build may be the only way they can achieve their dream of home ownership.

Crucially new builds are chain free – taking one of the biggest potential headaches out of the purchase process for buyers.

Buying a brand new home is exciting – be the first to live in a property – and if you select a home early in the build process you may have a “say “in the design, fittings and layout of your chosen home.

Plumping for a new build means no tortuous DIY – instead you can admire the fresh tiling and paintwork and enjoy living in your new place from day one.

In addition some developers offer extras like laying carpets on certain plots.

Respected housebuilder Allison Homes has a range of developments throughout the South West. Show homes at High Moor View, Winkleigh, Devon, and Buttercross Meadow, Somerton, Somerset,  show homes will launch soon, and work on Foxglove View, Buckland Brewer, Devon, will start shortly.
