Wells Office Marks 10 Years in the City

May 2022

Matthew Clarke and his team at the Wells branch of Greenslade Taylor Hunt are celebrating a successful decade in the city for the firm.

Residential Manager, Matthew, is particularly proud of the way the team looks after both buyers and sellers.

This is reflected in numerous Google reviews. One recently noted: “From the first valuation all the way through to moving day, GTH have been fantastic in their service, giving the best advice and clear communication throughout.

We would definitely use them again for the sale of our property.”

Covid has seen a reassessment for many homebuyers about what is really important and the attractions of Britain’s smallest city are proving irresistible.

Business is buoyant with large numbers of young families drawn to the area for its perfect mix of relaxed country living and excellent schooling.

“We as an office are delighted to be selling to so many young families looking to escape larger city life and Wells is seeming forever popular,” said Matthew.

The move to the countryside is breathing new life into villages and hamlets, which were previously discounted by young families.

The push to the countryside is having a rejuvenating effect on village schools and local businesses as families embrace country living.

Simon Havens, now Partner in charge of the network of residential branches across Somerset, Devon and Dorset set up the Wells office back in 2012.

Initially the branch at 74 High Street offered residential and lettings properties, but now provides a more comprehensive range of property services including agricultural advice and help with all planning matters.

Simon handed over the reins to Samuel Powell in 2019, before Matthew took the helm at the branch in September 2021. Samuel now heads up the firm’s Ilminster office.
