An electric trade throughout topped at 5600gns twice, firstly for the much talked about Promis family which saw the heifer Oakroyal Camelot Promis VG-2yr who was due to go dry incalf to Unix who sold to J Richardson from Ireland joining a number travelling across the water for various Irish purchasers. Her dam also generated considerable interest, she was the very youthful looking 6th calver Sterndale Destry Promis Red Ex94 whose dam was sister to the illustrious Windy-Knoll-View Pledge Ex95 and Promis Red, who sold for 2900gns.
The most prolific family at Oakroyal and the family most synonymous with the herd is the Peach family and this also had the honour of the joint top price of 5600gns. She was one of the 30 Moguls catalogued being Oakroyal Mogul Peach 54, an incalf heifer due again to Unix in the next couple of months, she travels to Staffordshire to join the Barmick herd for MP & BJ Hollins & Son. The 13 Peach cows sold on the day averaged an impressive £2610 with four exceeding the 3000gns barrier including Oakroyal Shottle Peach 30 Ex94-2E the maximum scored fourth calver who sold to a Cornish buyer who was successful in purchasing a number of top cows on the day.
At 5000gns was Sahara McCutchen Bashful Ex90 who was purchased as a calf from Sahara and goes back to the Regancrest Barbie family. She had calved in July and was picked by Mick Gould for his Woodmarsh herd. Her Mogul heifer calf sold for 3000gns at foot to the Vasami family for their Santa Maria herd. Also, from this family was the top priced yearling albeit from a slightly different line. Randolph Miller from Moorshard picked the classy Oakroyal Dupont Cassidy who was born in February and traced back to the Barbies but through the Chassity line for 3700gns.
The much admired freshly calved heifer that had been classified VG87-2yr was Oakroyal McCutchen Fresca 35, she was bred from 4 straight generations of Excellent and sold to a buyer from Dartmouth at 4500gns. Another fresh McCutchen heifer this time from the Welcome family achieved 4000gns and sold to David & Ian Chave of Peacehay who also secured Oakroyal Bossman Rosina Ex91 at 3400gns.
18 lots achieved in excess of £3000 and from week old calves to senior cows the overall average per life was an impressive £2000 which is a testament to the quality of the cattle in the Oakroyal Herd.
