A similar steady trade ensued across the board with 2080 store lambs peaking at £88 whilst 1231 grazing ewes and rams topped at £118 for shapely Texels.
The huge entry of breeding ewes, which included a Special Catalogued Sale of 2378 Suffolk & Mule cross ewes, sold to a good level of interest to £127 (x 4 pens) from Mr R Sizmur of Okehampton.
After last week's catalogued sale a reduced entry of rams topped at £320 (x 2) for Chartex shearlings from Mr EJ Mills of Raddington.
The sheep section was part of an unseasonably large August entry for Sedgemoor Market with a head count of 1256 store cattle, stirks and sucklers and a grand total of 7592. Strong stores rang the bell at £1380 for a superb Blue steer from Messrs Bell of Westhay. Quality stirks sold to another strong trade topping at £1045 for a Limousin steer from Mr IC Churchill of Axminster. Also for the first time this year a Dairy heifer achieved £2000 for Mr JG Morgan of Tewkesbury as confidence in this sector begins to build again.
