Podimore is a small village, conveniently located with excellent links via the A303 London Exeter road and the A37 to Bristol/Bath and Yeovil/Dorchester.  There is a public house in the village and local services just along the road at the roundabout adjoining the A303, these include a petrol station, which has a small shop, and a number of other convenience stores next to a Travelodge.  The Roman town of Ilchester lies approximately 2 miles to the west; Somerton 5 miles away and Street, Castle Cary, Sherborne and Yeovil, all between 8 and 10 miles away, offer a wider range of social and shopping facilities.  The area is well served by a number of good public and private schools. Mainline stations at Sherborne and Yeovil connect with London Waterloo and at Castle Cary with London Paddington. The twice daily service to and from London by Berrys Coaches picks up and sets down one mile away outside the Yeovilton Royal Naval Air Station.
