Greenslade Taylor Hunt Monthly Collective Dairy Sales ended 2019 on a high with one of the largest ever entry of fresh milk generating the trade of the year with no less than 54 lots selling for in excess of £2,000 to a top of 3500gns for Spicer Partners “Rockset For It Elegance” a VG88 second calver. She was bred from 7 generations of Ex tracing back to the famous “Krull Broker Elegance”. She joins the “Larchwood” herd for the Jones’ family.

“Bettiscombe” were back with a bang with their entry of 18 cows and heifers averaging £2,141 and topping at 2550gns for the “Honeybee Rebecca” the Canadian bred fresh heifer giving 34 kgs, she went to the Hussell family of Shebbear, the same Vendor also sold to 2350gns. 2250gns for Becca Reed of Cullompton and PE King (Bristol) Ltd x 2. WG & TA Manford of Kent sold 19 calved heifers to average £1773.39 topping at 2200gns for the “Hinxden MVP Wren”. An entry of calved heifers from the Gorwyn Farm Ltd, Carmarthen averaged £2023.
With 30 cows entered averaging £2029 the Reserve Champion from Andrew and Judith Fewings topped at 2250gns for the second lactation “Keevil Jareb Fancy 2nd” to a volume buyer from Frome. The same Vendor also sold to 2200gns. Vendors at 2100gns included JS Bird & Son, DC Dennis & Son, TR Quick and CRJ & JA Bishop. The pre-sale show Champion from Robert Puddy of Mark sold for 2180gns to the judge Paul Mason of Shropshire.

A consignment of 13 Holstein x Swedish Red cows and heifers from Rotherfield Farms LLP of Hampshire sold to 1620gns for the Tricross calved heifer, with all their heifers to 4th lactation cows selling to average £1405.

Incalf heifers again generated tremendous demand selling to 1580gns for PE King (Bristol) Ltd’s “”Accelrapper Ella”. Others for the same Vendor at 1550gns and 1520gns x 2. Other Vendors to 1520gns for TJ & ID Bray of Holsworthy.

A maiden heifer for Jake Symms sold to 2000gns for the yearling “Symba Diamond Rose ET” whose dam was purchased through Sedgemoor for 5100gns in 2017. This heifer sold to the breeder of the dam David Jones “Wiltor”.

The record collective entry of fresh milk attracted 51 successful purchasers from across the South West, Midlands and South Wales. Grateful thanks goes to all the purchasers, judge, sponsors and Vendors.
