DEFRA sets aside £8.5 million to support small dairy farmers in England
DEFRA has set aside a fund of £8.5 million to be made available to support small dairy farmers in England. The support will be in the form of a one off cash payment and there are just two eligibility requirements:
Your annual cows’ milk production during the period of 1st April 2015 – 31st March 2016 was less than 1 million litres.
You are still active in cows’ milk production.
The deadline for applications will be the 31st May 2017 and payments will be capped at 500,000 litres of milk production throughout the reference period. The rate of payment is unknown and will be calculated once all applications are received with payments hopefully being made by the end of July 2017.
