The decision to combine two dispersal sales at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 25th February 2020 was well rewarded with purchasers from Cornwall to Wales making the most of the quality on offer.

The first sale was the autumn/winter calving portion of the classified “Blackstone” herd for NI Herrod of Axminster, Devon. The November calved heifer served again in December to sexed semen “Blackstone Aftershock Kat GP84” topped the day at 2050gns selling to Hereford. The non-pedigree December calved heifer sold for 1950gns, with three more calved heifers at 1900gns. The 30 heifers sold averaged an impressive £1812.

The cows met a good trade throughout selling to 2000gns for the October calved second lactation cow “Topsy Dorina (VG86)” as did the “VG85 Iota Sam” that had calved in January. The older cows were a credit to the Vendor with the January calved sixth lactation commercial cow by “Picston Shottle” selling for 1250gns.

The Green family from Warminster, Wiltshire continued to disperse their “Roundhillsfarm” herd with their all year round calving cows and heifers selling to 1650gns for the autumn calved “Roswell Darky” served January to sexed semen and the January calved heifer “Brody Wanda”.

Their youngstock were in strong demand with the incalf heifers due March and May by “Apina Nadal” and “DG Brody” both selling to 1350gns to Carmarthenshire with recently served heifers again by “Nadal” selling to 1050gns. 15 month old bulling heifer “Fantastic Tammy” with a PLI of £560 sold to 840gns with yearlings by “Brody” at 820gns.
