Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt were back in the rostrum for the second dairy sale of the week at Sedgemoor Auction Centre for the dispersal of RD Ashby & Son’s commercial mainly autumn calving dairy herd removed from Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

The “Alta” bred cows topped at 2100gns x3 for a March second calver by “T-Spruce Altaarn” and two more second calvers due to their third in August and October. Fourth calvers sold to 1700gns with young autumn calvers in the strongest demand selling in excess of 1700gns on 18 occasions.  

The autumn born heifer calves 6 – 8 months of age were a credit to the late Kevin Ashby’s breeding these much admired heifers sold to 660gns x3 for “Peak Altamento” daughters with others to 650gns x2 for same sire and 640gns x3 for “Peak Altadepot” daughters.
 
32 successful purchasers on the day to include a strong Marteye contingent produced the following impressive averages:
