Buyers From Cornwall to Staffordshire for Non Recorded Organic Cows at Sedgemoor Auction Centre

The dispersal of commercial non recorded crossbred organic dairy cows at Sedgemoor Auction Centre created interest across the country with over 30 successful purchasers on the day. Roger and Helen Barrington’s decision to cease dairy production resulted in their dairy equipment and milking herd going under the hammer at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 17th May.

Montbeliarde x cows and heifers were in good demand selling to 1750gns for a fresh third calver, with 2nd calvers at 1600gns and calved 2 year old heifers at 1550gns.  Brown Swiss x cows coming to their second 1650gns with heifers at 1550gns, Norwegian Red x 2nd calvers 1550gns x 3 and British Friesian heifers also 1550gns. All cows forward on the day to include all faults averaged £1134 with Norwegian x incalf heifers due July to the Limousin at 1200gns.

The day started with the dairy equipment which included the 12:12 Fulwood Herringbone Parlour c/w Feeders & Daltec System selling for £14,000.

A well supported and attended day produced buyers from Cornwall to Staffordshire with notably only two being organic.
