Fashions may come and go, but the draw of well made and designed items never lose their appeal.

This is clearly evidenced in the continued appeal of 20th Century design,. Antiques auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt stage two specialist 20th Century design sales at The Octagon Salerooms, Taunton.

Once again the July iteration of this event drew quality items and price tags across a varied range of items. Held in January and July these sales always attract well designed items and a knowledgeable crowd keen to buy the best examples of the period.

Prices of note included a very good teak framed sofa and matching pair of armchairs by Grete Jalk for France & Sons, Denmark, which fetched £1,300.

From the same country a 1960s teak sideboard went for £800 and a large, good condition Clarice Cliff  'feather and leaves' pattern Lotus jug printed 'Fantasque' sold for £650.

In the jewellery section a 9ct gold bracelet in a thick strap design made £1,100, while a pretty purple, almandine and glass pendant drop brooch/pendant sold for £400. An unusual dancing bear gold ring went for £500.

In a wide-ranging collectors section assorted cigarette cards went for £200.
