Throughout the pandemic and initial lockdown Credit Controller Helen continued to work to provide this important function to the firm’s offices across Somerset, Devon and Dorset.
Vicky Keating, Head of Finance, Compliance and HR, said: “Helen is a valued member of the central services team and has seen many changes over the past 20 years, all of which have been embraced with her usual enthusiasm and humour, here’s to the next 20!”
When Helen began her career at Greenslade Taylor Hunt the firm was much smaller and it was not unusual for her to help out in the antiques department or at Walford Cross for the annual one-day machinery sale.
In the early days of her career cash was king and most payments were paid that way or by cheque – fax machines were the latest word in technology, while computers were in the realm of science fiction.
Now fax machines are obsolete and emails are the order of the day. Many transactions are carried out directly via computer with no need for paper print-outs.
Helen’s role is essential to the operation, of the firm, which provides a wide range of services across the property sector.
Before joining Greenslade Taylor Hunt Helen gained her AAT accountancy qualifications and worked at Lloyds Bank in Bridgwater and Taunton.
Helen works part-time and finds the role fits perfectly around family life.
No two days are the same and that is the appeal.
“It’s a very, very varied job,” said Helen.
In her spare time Helen enjoys walking and gardening.
