They say a picture can say a thousand words, and this one certainly does. This beautiful print is hanging in our 9 Hammet Street office (the building pictured on the right hand side nearest the church).

And it tells a wonderful story...

This drawing was created by Rose Wuline, who has lived in Taunton for 30 years. Due to recent circumstances, Rose spent 5 months of lockdown in complete isolation - even from her partner.

In this time Rose could only meet her partner for a socially distanced conversation in her garage. It has been a really lonely time for Rose, like many others living through this pandemic. So with many hours in a day to fill, Rose decided to reignite her love of drawing.

For the drawing you see here the story is simple, yet moving.

For over 40 years, Rose worked on Hammet Street where she would spend her lunch hours at the church, eating her lunch and chatting to people - this drawing is a symbol of a distinct moment in time for Rose and fond memories of happier times.

While Rose works incredibly hard as a full-time gardener, there is no doubt in her artistic talent for creating beautiful sketches - and we cannot thank her and her daughter enough for offering up this beautiful sketch for purchase.
