Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a strong demand for milkers at their Annual November Collective Sale which produced one of the best shows of fresh milk this year.   Taking top honours was Robert Puddy’s calved heifer Courtway Meridian Poppy that had calved at 2 years 11 months and was giving 47 kgs, she made 2350gns and was part of a consignment of 10 as Courtway continue to disperse their herd as they calve.  The reputation of this super herd generated a consignment average of £1853 with no less than 4 achieving 2000gns +.  A consignment of 8 heifers from Andrew and Judith Fewings sold to 2300gns for Keevil Jareb Countess a two year old out of a 13000kgs dam and giving 37 kgs daily.  The family also sold Keevil Bookmark Melba 2nd for 2100gns and donated the total proceeds to Musgrove Park Hospital as a token of their thanks and appreciation for the exceptional care that they had shown to their daughter during her recent serious illness.  A third Keevil heifer sold for 2020gns being the Jareb Rose 2nd that had calved in September and was giving 36kgs.

The 9th animal to sell for 2000gns + plus was the top priced cow of the day being Derek & Jeremy Dennis’s 2nd calver Dinnaton Zelgadis Tampa Beatrice (VG86) that had given 9140kgs as a heifer and was currently doing 38kgs daily.

One of the best youngstock trades witnessed this year produced incalf heifers to 1600gns for DM & G Davies Tegan Magic Erle 19th this heifer with a great pedigree was due in February to Endco Apprentice.  Another Erle topped the prices for the 5 bulling heifers forward on the day from Designer Holsteins being the February 2017 born Brady Erle at 800gns.  A much brighter heifer calf trade saw August born heifer calves selling to 340gns for Yardhayes Firebird Tanya from CJ & JA Reed.

SR & KJ Knight’s dispersal sale of their non-recorded commercial herd saw cows sell to 1320gns, incalf heifers to 1020gns, maiden heifers to 520gns and heifer calves to 310gns.   The pedigree Hereford bull Picklewood Mr Brave born August 2016 sold for 1750gns.
