Breeding policy on the farm had concentrated on a three way Holstein, Viking Red and Montbeliarde cross suitable for a grazing system, which generated strong demand from Cornwall, to Carmarthen and Cheshire.
Top call of the day at 1800gns came from the Procross first calved heifer who was due again in September to the Montbeliarde. At 1650gns were two cows due in August to their 2nd lactations.
The five year old Pedigree Limousin bull “Killerton Itunes” sold for 2100gns.
Incalf heifers due August – September sold to 1600gns for the Montbeliarde X due to the Limousin. Others sold to 1500gns and 1480gns.
Last year’s heifer calves born August to October sold to 660gns for three Procross heifers by “VR Harvard” and “Elastar”.
The day stated with the dairy equipment and surplus farm machinery with the 2004 10,000L Bulk Milk Tank selling for £7200 and 32 Tonne Feed Bin for £7000.
