Exam success for rural surveyor Isobel

May 2025

A career in the rural sphere was always on the cards for Isobel Harris, who grew up on a dairy farm.

A week’s work experience shadowing a surveyor sealed her path when she was 15 and she went on to study rural land management at the Royal Agricultural University.

Isobel is based at Sedgemoor Auction Centre where she carries out a wide range of professional, agricultural and farm agency work.

She has plenty of cause for celebration as alongside a busy working schedule she has just passed her APC exams – assessment of professional competence with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. This work-based measure now allows her to put MRICS after her name.

However, the studying does not let up as Isobel is also working towards her CAAV qualification - a specialist professional body representing, qualifying and briefing almost 3000 members practising in a diverse range of agricultural and rural work throughout the UK. Isobel hopes to take these exams later this year.

Isobel enjoys the variety that her role with Greenslade Taylor Hunt entails with no two days being the same.

Away from work Isobel is an active member of Young Farmers. She is a member of Whimple & Broadclyst Young Farmers and Group Secretary of East Devon Young Farmers Group.
