Keen Bidding At Machinery Dispersal Sales
September 2026
Greenslade Taylor Hunt has had yet another busy month with two on-farm machinery dispersal sales taking place in the same week! Vendors JH MB & DJ Jewell and R & J Cottey had collectively over 500 lots and both sales received similarly excellent trade, with each sale complementing and advertising the other.
The sale on behalf of the Jewell’s took place only a short distance from Sedgemoor Auction Centre towards Taunton with some very high-quality machinery, put forward by Mr Jewell himself and supporting local vendors. Over 130 lots went under the hammer with top prices including £37,500 for a New Holland T6050 Tractor, £5,900 for Twose Folding Cambridge Rollers, £4,900 for a West Silage Trailer and £4,800 for a 21’ Griffiths Bale Trailer.
Only three short days later the team headed down to Honiton to join the Cottey family where lots were presented in immaculate rows; a clear indication of the dedication and hard work shown by the extended family and friends who all were on hand to ensure the sale was excellently prepared.
A large crowd was drawn to the vast range of items on offer with over 300 lots of miscellaneous items and tools, to livestock equipment, machinery and tractors. Just a few of the top prices included: £26,000 for a Case MXU115 Tractor, £17,400 for a Case MXM140 Tractor, £17,000 for a Case IH JXU 85 Tactor and £16,000 for a Ford Ranger Dual Cab Pickup Truck.
Auctioneer Tom Mellor commented: “It was a pleasure to conduct the auctions on behalf of both the Jewell and Cottey families, with the bumper crowds in attendance reflecting the quality of the items on offer but also the popularity of the vendors!
A busy but very rewarding week for the dedicated machinery sales team here at GTH and we look ahead to the other sales in the diary, with more genuine equipment coming forward.”
If you are looking for an opportunity to buy or sell farm machinery, livestock equipment and effects, GTH has several upcoming events including the October machinery collective on October 1, a farm dispersal on October 19, at Luxborough, West Somerset, and the Chepstow Collective Machinery Sale on November 6.
