December 2025

An exceptional 5.1 carat diamond solitaire ring was the standout lot at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s final jewellery sale of 2025 at the Somerset Auction Rooms with the hammer coming down at £20,000.

With fees the successful bidder paid £24,680 for the magnificent ring. It was bought by a private buyer via a phone bid.

Deborah Cole, Gemmologist, Diamond Grader & Jewellery Valuer, said: “In my 28 years of valuing jewellery and gemmoloigcal appraisals, this jewel is one of the top three most exceptional rings I have had the pleasure to view and admire, quite spectacular to look at and rare to find.”

The sale which also included watches and silverware was studded with stellar prices.

A 9ct gold charm bracelet, hallmarked for Birmingham 1990, featuring no fewer than 35 9ct charms, ranging from a woodpecker to a cocktail shaker, attracted a good deal of pre-sale interest and sold for £2,300.

A strand of natural saltwater pearls in its original leather presentation case sold to a phone bidder for £1,000.

A room bidder paid the same sum for an antique 9ct gold guard chain.

A delightful Edwardian miniature long case clock, standing 28.5cm tall, proved another popular lot, comfortably exceeding its guide price with the hammer coming down at £850 to a room bid.
